IDD Respite services are provided to give families a break away from their loved one. Coastal Plains Integrated Health offers this as a temporary service. The person can come for a day, and if necessary, can stay for up to two weeks. There have been times when families are faced with emergency situations and need the relief of knowing their loved one is being cared for by dependable and well-trained people.

The respite service is provided in a 3-bedroom townhome, located in the Portland area.  Guests at the townhome receive 24-hour care.  There are also nurses on staff for any concerns or questions that arise while in respite care.

Things to bring with you to respite are clothing, toiletries (toothpaste, floss, deodorant), depends if incontinent, sanitary napkins for females, and any medications being taken, in their original containers. You may also want to leave a little spending money in case your family member goes to a store and would like to purchase anything, however, it is not necessary to bring money.  If there are trips planned to places with admission fees, Coastal Plains will purchase the tickets.
